Nothing better than narrating a fun and silly book! And to get a nice review is icing on the cake! Thanks AudioFile!

LING & TING: TWICE AS SILLY
Grace Lin, Read by Tara Sands • Unabridged • DECEMBER 2014
Hachette Audio • Trade Ed.
Listeners will chuckle as they enjoy the latest escapades of twins Ling and Ting. Whether it's planting cupcakes in the garden, reading each other's minds, painting toys with lucky red paint, or crafting a story that is NOT silly, listeners can count on encountering some child-friendly twists. Narrator Tara Sands capitalizes on each surprise. She's forceful as Ting insists that she'll try anyway after Ling has told her she needs seeds, not cupcakes, to plant in her garden. And she's exuberant as Ling exclaims that she can swing higher than any tree or mountain or even the clouds. At the end, Sands slows and lowers her register as she concludes Ling and Ting's jointly written story--a "very, very silly story," they say, that is "just like us."  THE SUMMER OF LETTING GO

Gae Polisner, Read by Tara Sands • Unabridged • MARCH 2014
HighBridge Audio • Trade Ed.
HighBridge Audio • Library Ed.

Four years after Francesca's small brother, Simon, drowns, she begins falling apart. Narrator Tara Sands tracks Francesca's courageous summer journey as she confronts an array of fears--from swimming to being honest with her parents and her "bff." Confusion clouds Francesca's already complicated emotions when she agrees to babysit Frankie Sky, a 4-year-old boy born on the day of her brother's death. Is this coincidence, or is Frankie her brother reincarnated? Nearing the story's climax, Sands expresses the terrible anger that Francesca has denied for years. Even stronger than this crescendo of a performance is Sands's portrayal of the active, adorable Frankie Sky. His malapropisms and misunderstandings counteract Francesca's pain--winning her heart and wowing listeners. S.W. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine
